Group Retreat in Karkonosze Mountains

Members of Lewinski Group took part in the retreat organised in Karpacz in Karkonosze National Park on the Czech-Polish border. The retreat was a great opportunity to discuss our research in more relaxed atmosphere, while enjoying hiking and biking in wild nature.

One of the highlights of the trip was a guest lecture of Prof. Ana Belenguer (University of Cambridge) titled Round Robin project on mechanochemistry. Prof. Belenguer is an expert in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and liquid-chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Currently, she is engaged in development of organic synthesis processes in the solid state using ball-mill grinding. During the presentation, Prof. Belenguer went through the fundamentals of ball-milling and reproducibility of such transformations, which was followed by some insights of the Round Robin project design.
