Janusz Lewiński was invited to be a part of the event entitled "Standing on the Shoulders of Giants. Polish Scientists and Scholars in Europe – Legacy and the Present". Event took place 17 October 2025 in the Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Centre in Paris. It was dedicated to Polish scientists and researchers whose work has shaped, and continues to shape, European science. It looked for continuity between the prominent scientific figures of the 19th and 20th century, and contemporary Polish scientists. As a representative of Polish chemists, the research of Prof. Lewiński was shown in the context of the achievements of Prof. Jan Czochralski. Prof. Lewiński took part in the discussion panel, and gave a lecture entitled Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: Jan Czochralski and the Power of Single Crystals.
The event was accompanied by an exhibition prepared to mark Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Its aim is to present the profiles of outstanding scientists, showcase their modern successors, and link their achievements to the priorities of the EU’s research and development policies, including the Horizon Europe programme. The exhibition was first displayed in Brussels, and now continues its journey through major European capitals.
