19 May 2023, Prof. Sason Shaik (Hebrew University of Jerusalem) gave a lecture at the neighbouring Institute of Organic Chemistry and then visited our lab. Together, we discussed various aspects dioxygen activation as well as computational approach to mechanochemical synthesis.
Sason Shaik is the Director of the Lise Meitner-Minerva Center for Computational Quantum Chemistry and the head of a theoretical chemistry group in the Institute of Chemistry of the Hebrew University, Israel. His contributions include the development of a general model of chemical reactivity based on valence bond (VB) theory, development of new models of halogen bonds, CH-HC interactions, and other weak interactions, exploration of DNA/RNA repair mechanisms, and many others. For more info about his research we recommend visiting his website.
