A homologue series of group 13 organometallic macrocyclic phthalates [(MMe2)2(μ-O2C)2-1,2-C6H4]2 (where M = Al, Ga, In) was investigated as potential molecular building blocks for crystal engineering of extended metal−organic structures. Reactions of these molecular carboxylates with various monodentate Lewis bases provide the first examples of group 13 organometallic coordination polymers based on a dicarboxylate unit.
