This is a highly multidisciplinary platform, drawing from a number of fields such as chemistry, physics, materials science and biology. The challenge for chemists is to design and prepare nanoscaled functional materials and their precursors with desired size, morphology, and physical and chemical properties. The overall goal of the project is to develop novel synthetic approaches leading from well-defined molecular components to various nano-scale inorganic-organic materials with specific functions. Our initiatives encompass problems across the fields of traditional inorganic and organometallic chemistry, materials science, as well as interface and colloid science. A characteristic feature of the planned research is the application of the <strong>\"bottom-up\"<\/strong> strategy, also known as <strong>molecular precursor approach<\/strong>, where materials are built from molecular units of the desired composition and structure taking advantage of the understanding of structure\/bonding\/reactivity\/properties correlations. The important part of this philosophy will be the utilization of <strong>bioinspired synthetic pathways<\/strong>. Committee will be comprised of 3 persons: the project leader, a representative of the Warsaw University of Technology and an external specialist. A representative of the Foundation of Polish Science will be also invited to participate in the recruitment procedure. Final decision will be reached upon judgment of the scientific experience, fields of interest and potential input into the project which the candidate can bring.
